Location: Barton Creek – Lost creek to Car Dealer Dam

Starting: Latitude: 30°17’28.08″N       Longitude: 97°47’13.98″W

Physical Difficulty: Easy-Moderate       Fishing Difficulty: Easy – Moderate

Water Flow: not available (if you find it let me know)

Fish: Guadalupe Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Large Mouth Bass, Rio Grand, Sunfish, Catfish

Access: To access this entry point start by parking in the Red Bud parking lot.  DO NOT park in any area along the road, especially around the metal gate near this bridge, since summer 2009 they ticket people like crazy in this area.

General: Just minutes from downtown Austin lies this golden gem. As with all water ways around Austin, fishing is best in the early morning and around dusk, at least during the warmer months. This area sees a fair amount of paddle traffic but NOTHING like the area around the confluence of Barton Creek and the Colorado. So far i have only caught fish in the “pool” the large relatively calm area that lies between Red Bud and the dam. A couple of anglers i have met there work the whitewater area that pours into the pool, scouring pocket water for big fish with big rods, ie. 8-9WT. If you can ignore the MAMMOTH dam learing over your shoulder it’s kind of fun to pretend your on big water in Alaska.
